a couple of years ago I did a study for vitamin d levels in people and at my doctors yesterday she told me that they had emailed her beacause I have very low levels of vitamin d and it could have ramifications for the future re my health,if your going to do something might as well do it well hey?,anyway the upshot is I have to sit in the sun for 30 minutes every day,no hat,no sunglasses,no sunblock,as much bare skin exposed as possible, how am I supposed to stay pale and interesting now?

From a former desert dweller, best times for me wre in early am or evening, evening less since sun is on a different course and the shadows and all. My routine was come home from graveyard, watch movie, or play a video game, then go out early by pool as sun came up and sleep. I'd flip around in my sleep, then heat would get too much and I'd go in at about 10 am before the 'bad rays' were starting. From pale whit to very tan in no time. Now I most likely need more sun but after the last days events I'll be getting all I need soon I imagine. I no longer bother with the pale guy bit intentionally. Now more outta default with the job inside.

You know, I wonder if the doctor could tell me much that would make me give up my factor 50....

How's the sun worshipping going? Are you managing it alright?

I thought that Caucasians only needed 10 minutes of sunlight per day to collect the required daily dose of vitamin D
Sooo you could try 10 minute bursts in the morning and afternoon for starters and see how that goes - it should not be enough for sunburn (unless like me you live in the antipodes) so you should still remain pale and loitering lol (Keats so rox)

hmm.. I have a 'sit in the sun' problem too.  Doctors! hmpf.  But I was told that it was fine for it to be in morning, infact that was preferable as there was less chance of being sunburnt.  All need and desire for pale skin out of the window for the moment.. we do need to avoid sunburn.. all of us!
So early morning, or late evening is when I choose to get my daily helping.
